Getting-ready space is the most under-inspected room on any venue tour — and you'll spend more hours in it than in the ceremony space. Most couples glance at it for thirty seconds. Here's what actually matters.
What a good one has
Natural light, and lots of it. Hair and makeup artists need it, and getting-ready photographs are made or ruined by it. A windowless room means the artist brings lighting and your photos look different from every image you saved.
Enough mirrors. Ideally full-length plus vanity mirrors. Six people sharing one mirror is a bottleneck.
Somewhere to hang dresses. A rail, a hook, a door — not the back of a chair.
A private bathroom in the space. Walking down a public hallway in a robe is a thing people mention afterward.
Room for the people you're bringing. Eight people plus two hair and makeup artists plus a photographer needs genuine floor space.
Power outlets. For irons, dryers, chargers. Count them.
Somewhere to sit that isn't a folding chair. You'll be there four to six hours.
What to check on the tour
Ask to see it. Some venues skip it, which is itself informative.
Look at the windows — how many, which direction, and what time of day you'd be in there.
Count the outlets and the mirrors.
Check whether there's a second space for the other party. Many venues have one good room and one afterthought.
Ask when you get access. Some venues open it at 9am; some at noon. If your ceremony is at 2pm and access starts at noon, hair and makeup are happening somewhere else.
Ask whether it's included or a $300 to $1,000 add-on.
The access-time question
This catches people out more than anything else in this category.
Hair and makeup for a party of eight takes four to six hours with one artist, two hours with a team of three. If the venue opens at noon and your ceremony is at 3pm, you're getting ready at a hotel and arriving finished.
That's not necessarily wrong — plenty of couples prefer a hotel suite. But decide it deliberately rather than discovering it three weeks out.

If the venue doesn't have one
A hotel suite is the standard alternative. Several Bucks County hotels have suites suited to it, and some have function rooms couples rent for the morning — the Warrington properties have space used for exactly this.
Budget: $150 to $400 for a suite, or whatever a function room costs.
Factor travel. Getting eight people, dresses, and a photographer from a hotel to a venue takes longer than you think. Double your estimate.
